Certification readiness, seen from the assessor's side of the table.

Independent management systems consultancy for UK organisations — built on years of experience leading third-party assessments. I know exactly what an auditor will sample, question, and grade, because it's what I do.

Structured like the standards themselves

Every ISO management system standard follows the same high-level structure. So does my support — from context through to improvement.

CLAUSE 4–6 · CONTEXT, LEADERSHIP & PLANNING

Gap analysis & system design

A clear-eyed review of where your system stands against the standard — what conforms, what doesn't, and what an assessor would raise. You get a prioritised, plainly worded action plan, not a hundred-page report.

CLAUSE 7 · SUPPORT

Documentation & competence

Lean, workable documented information that reflects how your business actually operates — plus training and awareness support so your people can speak to the system with confidence on assessment day.

CLAUSE 8 · OPERATION

Implementation support

Hands-on help embedding operational controls, from COSHH and permit-to-work arrangements to supplier evaluation and management of change — grounded in what genuinely gets sampled at assessment.

CLAUSE 9–10 · EVALUATION & IMPROVEMENT

Internal audit & readiness review

Independent internal audits, management review facilitation, and pre-certification readiness checks conducted to the same standard of rigour as the real thing — so nothing at Stage 2 comes as a surprise.

FEATURED · CONSTRUCTION PRE-QUALIFICATION

SSIP assessment support

As an SSIP-qualified assessor, I help contractors demonstrate health & safety competence to buyers and principal contractors — preparing applications and supporting evidence for SSIP member scheme assessments, reviewing RAMS and construction phase plans, and aligning arrangements with CDM duties. If your SSIP renewal keeps becoming a scramble, this makes it routine.

Approach

From first conversation to certificate

A typical engagement follows four stages. Each one ends with something concrete in your hands.

STAGE 01

Scoping call

A free, no-obligation conversation about your business, your certification goals and your timescales.

STAGE 02

Gap analysis

On-site or remote review against your chosen standard, closing with a prioritised action plan.

STAGE 03

Build & embed

Working alongside your team to close the gaps — documentation, controls, competence and records.

STAGE 04

Readiness & audit

Internal audit and management review completed, evidence in order, team briefed — ready for Stage 1 and 2.

About

The assessor's perspective, working for you

I'm Sean Cunningham, Founder and Director of Integrated Management Risk Services Ltd, with over 20 years of experience in management systems auditing and consultancy. I work as a Lead Assessor for leading UK certification bodies across quality, environmental and occupational health & safety standards — from SME manufacturers to Tier 1 contractors, national retail groups and NHS facilities providers.

That experience shapes everything about how I consult. I don't build paperwork for its own sake, and I don't grade softly. If something would be raised as a nonconformity at assessment, you'll hear it plainly from me first — with a practical route to closing it.

To protect impartiality, I never provide consultancy to organisations I assess in a certification capacity, and consultancy engagements are entirely independent of any certification body.
